In the new TV drama, "Prison Break," Michael Scofield has a grandiose plan to help his unfairly incarcerated brother escape from jail. Does he call a lawyer? Write his congressman? Nope--he gets himself arrested and admitted to the same institution to hatch an escape plan. How to remember the details of this scheme? Why, get a massive body tattoo with hidden symbols as a guide for jail jumping. I thought it was bogus when a guy with no short term memory used his skin as a post-it note in "Memento." Now, a supposedly sane, heroic dude gets painful body art to smuggle in clues for his escape attempt. Only on Fox! The societal shift turning the tattoo from evil icon to heroic symbol has finally come to pass. Tatts are so commonplace that movie villains may now be the ones who have avoided the artist's needle.
